WE FIGURED YOU MIGHT HAVE SOME QUESTIONS
Does OSHA require riggers to be certified?
OSHA requires riggers to be qualified, a designation determined by their employer based on knowledge, skills, and performance. Our rigger training will certainly help riggers achieve qualified status. Our training will also prepare students for rigger certification, which is not required by OSHA, but is required by some employers or customers.
Can anyone take rigger training?
Absolutely. Anyone age 18 or older, from the latest hire to the most experienced construction pro, can take and benefit from Crane U Rigger training.
Where does the training take place?
We can train at your worksite, or at one of our locations throughout the U.S. To make it even easier, some of the training can be done online, too.
Do you offer a Train the Trainer option for rigger training as well?
Yes, we do. We can train one of your regular employees so they can provide rigger training — with our support — to other employees in the future. We provide your trainer with a certificate upon successful completion of our course and can provide back end support as well: grading exams and issuing wallet cards to your students.
What about the signalperson part of the training?
Everyone working in construction should have a basic understanding of the hand and voice signals used on jobsites. You can rest assured signalperson and hand signal training is an important part of our Rigger/Signalperson course.
Does OSHA require signalperson certification?
OSHA’s signalperson requirements are similar to those for riggers: they are required to be qualified by their employer or customer. Again, this can be based on experience, skill, knowledge, and performance.
Like Riggers, Signalperson certification is not required by OSHA, but might be required by an employer. Anyone who completes our Rigger/Signalperson Certification training will also be prepared to take a signalperson certification test.
The actual certification test — both written and practical — is designed and scored by a nationally accredited crane operator testing organization. Crane U provides the training and preparation for the certification testing, has written examiners, and also communicates the results.
What about the certification test?
Crane U’s Rigger/Signalperson Certification training course is extensive and covers all aspects of safe rigging procedures from sling care to power lines to hoisting personnel.
How long does the certification last?
Rigger/Signal Person Certifications are valid for a period of five years.
